In early 2021 my Dad, Jay Williams, PE, and an assistant performed a control burn on pasture land on our family farm. I flew my drone to monitor the burn process and look for fire beyond the plowed fire breaks. They pulled off a near-perfect burn in a single afternoon. I gathered a few clips, photographs, and audio and created this video in Adobe Premiere. Control burns are an ecologically sound land management tool to improve wildlife habitat, pasture growth, and native plant communities while reducing vegetation control costs. Even with the best weather conditions, wind can abruptly change, and fire can get out of hand. Having a solid plan in place to monitor prescribed fire is an absolute must.
